This week the Blugolds split contests, defeating fourth-ranked UW-Platteville 65-60 in Zorn Arena on Wednesday, but dropping an 89-75 decision at UW-Stout on Saturday. Against Platteville, Beyer tied for a game-high 23 points and also tied for a game-high seven rebounds. He also finished with three steals and an assist. Saturday he scored nine points and pulled down six rebounds while also coming up with one steal.

The Blugolds split games this weekend, losing a close match 61-58 at third-ranked UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday and winning a 79-69 contest at Finlandia University on Saturday. Against Stevens Point Beyer led the team with 24 points and 13 rebounds, recording his third double-double of the season. He went 10-for-17 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe against the Pointers. Saturday he finished with eight points and nine rebounds, playing only 27 minutes. For the week he averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds and came away with two steals, one block and one assist.

The Blugolds picked two conference wins this week with a 75-62 victory over the UW-Oshkosh Titans on Wednesday and a 78-72 win over UW-River Falls on Saturday. For the week Beyer scored 35 points while he pulled down eight boards, playing only 55 minutes. He also finished with three assists and two blocks. Wednesday Beyer scored 21 points to lead the team and also led the team with nine rebounds. He finished the night shooting 8-for-12 from the floor, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. On Saturday he scored 14 points and came up with a team-high seven rebounds.

January 26, 2009-February 1, 2009

Ryan Shea, Outside, 6-4, 180, Sophomore, Duluth, Minn./East
Shea averaged 21.5 points in two games this week as the Blugolds defeated UW-Superior on Wednesday in Superior 82-68 but came up short 79-60 against UW-Whitewater on Saturday. In the game against Superior, Shea scored a season-high 26 points to lead all scorers and finished with five assists, five rebounds and two steals. Saturday against the sixth-ranked Warhawks, he scored a team-high 17 points while he led the game with four steals.

Beyer averaged 21 points and 8.5 rebounds over two games this week as the Blugolds defeated UW-La Crosse 85-70 Saturday but came up short to UW-Stevens Point 80-60 Wednesday. In Saturday's contest Beyer led the Blugolds with a season-high 29 points and 11 rebounds, recording his second double-double of the year. Beyer went 10-for-14 from the floor, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, and shot 6-for-7 from the free throw line. On Wednesday, Beyer contributed 13 points and pulled down six rebounds in 26 minutes of play. For the week he shot 65.2 percent from the floor (15-for-23), including three of four baskets from beyond the arc, and went 9-for-12 from the free throw line.

Ryan Shea, Outside, 6-4, 180, Sophomore, Duluth, Minn./East
The Blugolds split this week, losing a close overtime battle at UW-Oshkosh 91-84 on Wednesday and winning a game at home against UW-River Falls 76-73 on Saturday. On Wednesday Shea led the Blugolds with 25 points, six assists and two steals, playing 39 minutes of the game. He went 10-for-19 from the floor and 5-for-8 from the line and pulled down four rebounds. Against the Falcons, Shea recorded a game-high 21 points, shooting .500 from the field. Shea also picked up a team-leading three steals and came away with six rebounds and two assists in Saturday's contest.

January 5, 2009-January 11, 2009

Geoff Probst, Inside, 6-6, 205, Junior, Moose Lake, Minn.
In two hard-fought battles this week, Probst led the Blugolds in rebounding and was the team's second-leading scorer. In the Blugolds' 69-64 loss to Superior on Wednesday, Probst scored 14 points and pulled down six boards, while also coming up with two steals and one assist. On Saturday Probst recorded a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. He also came up with three assists and one steal, but the Blugolds came up on the losing end at Whitewater, 96-88. For the week he finished with 16 rebounds and 30 points.

December 22, 2008-January 4, 2009

Geoff Probst, Inside, 6-6, 205, Junior, Moose Lake, Minn.
Probst helped the Blugolds to three victories last week to improve their season record to 8-3. On Monday and Tuesday the Blugolds hosted the 40th annual UW-Eau Claire Holiday Classic and captured the title with a 92-70 victory over Wartburg College on Tuesday. To get to the championship game, Eau Claire beat Northwestern College 78-52 Monday. The Blugolds also picked up a nonconference 76-66 victory over St. Scholastica on Saturday. Probst led the Blugolds over the three-game stretch, averaging 16.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. On Tuesday and Saturday he recorded double-doubles, picking up a career-high 32 points and 12 rebounds on Saturday. Probst went 17-for-19 from the free throw line for the week, including an 11-for-12 performance on Saturday.

Colin Boone, Outside, 6-1, 185, Junior, Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial
In two games this week, the Blugolds split, defeating UW-La Crosse 71-66 Saturday and losing 83-54 to Platteville on Wednesday. Boone led the Blugolds in scoring both days and accumulated 31 total points. Wednesday he led Eau Claire with 14 points and came up with three assists, one steal and one rebound. Saturday Boone scored a career-high 17 points and recorded four assists and two rebounds.

December 1, 2008-December 7, 2008

This week the Blugolds won two games, defeating Finlandia University 74-66 Tuesday and kicking off WIAC play with a 77-61 victory over UW-Stout on Saturday. In Tuesday's game, Shea scored 17 points and accumulated a game-high five assists. Shea shot 50 percent from the floor (6-for-12) and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. He also came up with two steals. In Saturday's game Shea led all scorers with 21 points. He also came up with nine boards, a game-high five assists, two blocks and two steals. Shea now leads the Blugolds this season with 15.2 points per game, 22 assists and seven blocks.

November 24, 2008-November 30, 2008

In two games this weekend at the UW-Oshkosh Classic the Blugolds went 1-1, losing 92-74 to Dordt College (Neb.) on Friday and bouncing back with an 82-75 victory over Clarke College (Iowa) on Saturday. Beyer led the Blugolds in Friday's contest with 21 points on 9-for-15 shooting. He also pulled down four rebounds, while adding one block and a steal. On Saturday he contributed eight points and rebounds, and came up with two blocks. Beyer now leads the Blugolds in scoring with 13.5 points per game and in rebounding with 5.3 per game.

November 17, 2008-November 23, 2008

Ryan Shea, 6-4, 180, Outside, Sophomore, Duluth, Minn./East
Shea led the Blugolds in points and rebounds this weekend in two games at Wheaton College's Lee Pfund Classic, which the Blugolds split to open the season. On Friday Eau Claire came up short 87-78 against Ohio Weslyan but made a great comeback in the second half. Shea had a team-high 21 points and six rebounds in that game. On Saturday the Blugolds hit the century mark and defeated the College of Staten Island 100-67. Shea once again led the team with 16 points and eight rebounds, while also recording a game-high four steals.
