Mon, Dec 2, 2024 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Blugold Super Six Jill Janke A four-year All-Conference pick, Janke could not have scripted a more dramatic end to her Blugold career. In her final at-bat, she hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Blugolds a 4-3 triumph over conference rival UW-Whitewater and the school’s first NCAA Division III national championship in softball. She helped the Blugolds to three straight NCAA appearances, two regular season conference championships and two conference tournament championships. Besides the national championship, the Blugolds also earned a third place finish at nationals during Janke’s junior season. Three times she was an NFCA All-Great Lakes first team pick and once a second team selection. She received the team Golden Glove award twice plus the Blugold Award once and the Big Stick Award once. Janke was selected to participate on the ASA Regional All-Star team against Team USA this past summer. While setting school career records for putouts, fielding percentage and times hit by a pitch, Janke batted .370 for her career with 23 home runs which ranks second all-time. She had a career .564 slugging percentage, .443 on base percentage and .991 fielding percentage with 141 RBI in 185 games She was the WIAC’s Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete for softball this year and also an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete as a sophomore. She served as president of the Blugold SAAC organization in 2007-08. A double major in public relations and history with a 3.60 cumulative GPA, Janke will graduate next May. |
