Blugold Super Six
Paul Bielmeier, a four-time football letterwinner, was a member of the 2007 Blugold football team which advanced to the NCAA playoffs for only the second time in school history.
On that team he played in all 12 games as a safety and finished with 19 tackles. During his career, he played in a total of 41 games. Last year, he finished third on the team with 47 tackles while he forced one fumble and recovered another. In 2005 he was the Blugolds' Special Teams Newcomer of the Year.
Bielmeier received recognition in his final season as a National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Draddy Trophy semifinalist in addition to being named to the organization's Hampshire Honor Society. He was named a 2008 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine All-American, one of just 15 student-athletes in school history to have received the honor.
Bielmeier has earned Dean's List and academic distinction honors at UW-Eau Claire eight times. He was involved in a variety of service activities for football and also outside of football, including the Buddy-Mentor Program at Longfellow Elementary School and the UWEC PRIDE program for students with disabilities.
A physical education major and math minor with a 3.94 GPA, Bielmeier will graduate this spring.
