Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Basketball To Host UW-Stevens Point Wednesday Posted: Monday, January 9, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team, still searching for its first conference win, will host UW-Stevens Point Wednesday night in Zorn Arena. The Blugolds will come into the game with a 5-9 overall record and a 0-5 conference record after losing four-straight games. The Pointers will come in with an 11-4 overall record and a 4-2 conference record. The Pointers are coming off a big victory over UW-Stout. The Blugolds will be led by Brittanni Hakanson (Fr.-Wheeler, WI/Boyceville), who is averaging 10 points per game this season. She is shooting 58.4% from the field, which is third in the conference. Heidi Arciszewski (Fr.-Thorp, WI) has played well as of late, as she had a career-high of 17 points against UW-Oshkosh on Saturday and has posted double figures in three of her last four games. The Pointers are led in scoring this season by Cassandra Schultz, who is averaging 13.5 points per game. The Pointers are at the top of the conference in scoring as a team, averaging 77.3 points per game. The Pointers are also on top of the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 48.8% and are holding their opponents to just 36% shooting. The Blugolds and the Pointers have split the 62 games played between the two schools with each winning 31. Each team has won on their home court in each of the last two seasons. It will also be Youth Night at Zorn Arena and the NCAA mascot, JJ Jumper, will be at the game. Two youths will be admitted free with a paid adult for the game and the Blugold players along with JJ Jumper will be signing autographs after the game. The action gets underway at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night in Zorn Arena. - JR - |
