Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Basketball To Host UW-Oshkosh Saturday Night Posted: Thursday, January 5, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team will look to snap a three-game losing streak and win its first conference game as it will host 19th-ranked UW-Oshkosh in the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader to be held Saturday night in Zorn Arena. The Blugolds will come into the game with a 5-8 overall record and a 0-4 conference record. The Titans will come in with a 9-4 overall record and a 3-1 conference record. The Blugolds are coming off a loss to UW-Whitewater, while the Titans are coming off their first conference loss, losing to UW-Platteville 50-49 Tuesday night. Michelle Burns (So.-Eau Claire, WI/North) leads the Blugolds in scoring this season averaging 12.6 points per game. Freshman Brittanni Hakanson (Fr.-Wheeler, WI/Boyceville) is second on the team scoring averaging 9.8 points per game. Brittanni Hakanson led the Blugolds in scoring Tuesday night against Whitewater with 16 points off the bench. Both teams are at the top of the conference when it comes to free throw shooting. The Blugolds are shooting 70.4% from the line and the Titans are shooting 73.6%. The Titans are at or near the top of the conference when it comes to field goal percentage and three-point percentage. The Titans are shooting 46.1% from the field and 39% from beyond the arc. Brittany Herrick leads the Titans in scoring averaging 17.9 points per game. Shannon Eggers is right behind her averaging 15.4 points per game. The Blugolds are 26-38 lifetime against the Titans and have lost the last four meetings. The action gets underway Saturday night in Zorn Arena with the women's game at 5 p.m. The Blugolds men will then play the Titans at approximately 7 p.m. following the women's game. - JR - |
