Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey To Begin 2006 At Home Posted: Monday, January 2, 2006 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team will host fifth-ranked University of St. Thomas Wednesday night at Hobbs Ice Center in its first game of the new year. The Blugolds have an overall record of 2-8-1 this season and have not won in the last four games. The Blugolds last played on December 10th, which resulted in a loss against UW-Superior. The Tommies come in unbeaten with a record of 7-0. The Tommies won their last contest 3-2 in overtime against Bethel College on December 10th. Freshman forward Lauren Havard (Fr.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) leads the Blugolds in points this season with 11. Four of her team-high seven goals have been power-play goals. Blugold goalie Jill Arendt (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) has 2.96 goals against average this season and has stopped 234 shots. The Blugolds as a team have averaged almost six more shots per game than their opponents this season but have been outscored 35-24. The Tommies are also out-shooting their opponents this season, averaging about five more shots a game. The Tommies defense has played well this season allowing just 1.7 goals per game. Maureen Hardwick leads the Tommies in points with 16 and Jackie Carroll leads the team in goals with seven. The Blugolds are 1-2 lifetime against St. Thomas, losing the last match-up between the two schools 6-0. The action gets underway Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Center. |
