Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Basketball Falls To Chapman Posted: Friday, December 30, 2005 ORANGE, CA - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team got off to a slow start and was unable to recover in a 60-44 defeat to Chapman University here today at the Hutton Sports Center. The Blugolds shot 6-of-22 (27.3%) from the field in the first half and while the Panthers made 14-of-25 shots (56.0%) from the floor as Chapman entered the locker room with a 34-17 lead. In the second half the Blugolds would outscore the Panthers 27-26 where Chapman got to the free throw line making 9-of-13 shots from the charity stripe. The Blugolds shot 13 free throws for the entire game. Chapman outrebounded Eau Claire 37-33 shooting 22-of-50 (44.0%) from the floor compared to 17-of-53 (32.1%) for the Blugolds. The Panthers made 5-of-13 three-point field goals while the Blugolds connected on 2-of-12 from behind the arc. Both teams committed 13 turnovers with Chapman collecting 14 assists compared to eight for the Blugolds. Liz Van Drasek (Sr.-Albertville, MN/St. Michael-Albertville) led the Blugolds with 12 points. Rachel Becker (Sr.-Gilmanton) led both teams with seven rebounds. Amanda Zenner (So.-Medford) came off the bench to score nine points. The Blugolds will finish their California trip tomorrow as they face Claremont-Mudd Scripps. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. central time. |
