Women's Golf Seventh After First Day Of Iwu Classic

NORMAL, Ill. -- The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team shot 24-over par and is alone in seventh place following the first day of the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Golf Classic held here today at the Ironwood Country Club.
Crystal O?Connell (So.-New Richmond) led all Blugold golfers with an opening round 76 to finish the day tied for 10th. Maggie Loney (So.-River Falls) and Susan Karlman (So.-Onalaska/Holmen) weren't far behind with a 77 and 78 respectively.
Rounding out the Blugold golfers are Jessica Thompson (Fr.-Plover/SPASH) with an 81, Jennifer Prock (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) with an 82 and Kelly Gerzsenyi (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) with an 87.
De Pauw University currently holds first place at a 13-over 301. Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stevens Point are 18 and 21-over respectively.
