Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Soccer Announces Team Awards For 2005 Season Posted: Thursday, December 8, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - The 2005 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) champion UW-Eau Claire soccer team announced its team awards for the 2005 season. Midfielder Emily Meisinger (Jr.-Green Bay/Notre Dame Academy) was named the Most Valuable Player. Meisinger was named to the All-WIAC soccer team for the second consecutive year and was fourth on the team in points with 13. Meisinger also played well on the defense side. Freshman midfielder Liz Kooistra (Fr.-Lakeville, MN) won the Offensive Player of the Year award. Kooistra was also named to the All-WIAC team as she was third on the team in goals with six and in points with 16. Freshman defender Allison Smith (Fr.-Bloomington, MN/Jefferson) was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Allison Smith played in all 23 games for the Blugolds and contributed one goal and one assist this past season. She too was named to the All-WIAC soccer team. Senior Marcia Foltz (Sr.-Madison/Memorial) took home the Playmaker of the Year award, as she led the Blugolds in goals with eight and assists with 10 this past season. Foltz was named to her third consecutive All-WIAC team. Foltz was also named the 1-on-1 champion. Forward Maria Iaizzo (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) won the Golden Shoe Award. Iaizzo was second on the team in goals with seven and in points with 17. Goalkeeper Allie Rivard (Fr.-Wayzata, MN) was named the Alumni Freshman Player of the Year. Rivard had a record of 8-1-2 on the season and stopped 55 shots while in net. Defender Anna Talbot (So.-Apple Valley, MN/Eastview) was named the Most Improved player on the Blugolds, while goalkeeper Amanda Niedfeldt (Fr.-Stoughton, WI) was named Practice Player of the Year. Abby Ofstedahl (So.-Apple Valley, MN/Eastview) was named 2-on-2 champion and also won the Heading Challenge. Jessica Millard (Fr.-Madison/La Follette) and Laura Satre (Fr.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) won the Long Range Shooting competition. - JR - |
