Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Basketball To Host Rival Stout In Conference Opener Posted: Monday, November 28, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team will host I-94 rival UW-Stout Wednesday night in its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener. The Blugolds, who have a 3-1 record, will come into Wednesday's game riding a three-game winning streak after UWEC won both games of the Wisconsin Lutheran Classic held in Milwaukee over the weekend. The Blugolds defense has played well so far this season as their opponents have just shot 41% in the first four games. The Blugolds are also out-rebounding their opponents by an average margin of four rebounds per game. Jared Bardon (So.-DeForest, WI) leads the Blugolds in scoring so far this season averaging 14.8 points per game. He averaged 18 points per game in both games over the weekend. Bardon is also the team leader in rebounds averaging seven boards per game. Dan Ottney (So.-Glenwood City, WI) is second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.0 points per game. The Blue Devils will also come into Wednesday's game with a 3-1 record, having won their past two games. The Blue Devils return all five starters from last year's team that was 12-4 to start the season before going 1-7 in their final eight games to finish with an overall record of 13-11. Ryan Stangl leads the Blue Devils in scoring through the first four games, averaging 14.3 points per game. The Blugolds have lost three straight against the Blue Devils, including being swept in both games last season. The action gets underway at 7 p.m. Wednesday night in Zorn Arena. - JR - |
