EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey fell 5-3 to UW-River Falls tonight at Hobbs Ice Center.

The Falcons scored a pair of evenhanded goals in the first period to go up by two. The first came 8:54 into the period and the second came at the 13:23 mark.

Another River Falls goal came 5:07 into the second, this one being on an advantage. Eau Claire quickly responded with a goal at 5:18 to make the score 3-1. Karen Hebert (Jr.-Lakeville, MN/Holy Angels) scored the evenhanded goal while Katie Vannelli (So.-Eagan, MN) provided the assist.

The last half of the third period contained action on both sides. River Falls scored even-sided goals at 14:43 and at 15:39. Eau Claire answered with a pair of its own, but it was not enough to overcome River Falls tonight. Lauren Havard (Fr.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) scored both of the third period goals for Eau Claire. Martina Korinek (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) and Margaret Campbell (Fr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) both provided assists on each goal. The first came at 17:26 and the other came at 19:21.

The Blugolds put 33 shots on goal while River Falls compiled 31. Heather Prochaska (So.-Madison/East) made 26 saves on the night while allowing five shots to get by. Her counterpart made 30 saves and allowed three goals.

Both teams had four power-play opportunities. The Falcons capitalized on one while Eau Claire failed to score on any.

The team is now 1-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the NCHA. The Falcons are 4-1-1 on the season and 2-0-0 in the NCHA.

The team next travels to face Augsburg College on Tuesday. The puck will be dropped at 7:05 p.m.
