Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Take Third

LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams each took third today out of six schools at the WIAC Conference Relays.

The men scored 92.00 points to tie with UW-Whitewater. UW-Stevens Point took first with 158.00. The women scored 90.00 for third. Home team UW-La Crosse took first with 162.00 points.

The men's diving team took first in the 1-meter event. It scored 236.65 on the boards. The men also took first in the 3-meter event with 233.90 points.

Cale Schmidt-Jackson (Jr.-Duluth, MN/East), Peter Schultz (Fr.-Oakdale, MN/North), Brian Hauerwas (So.-Racine/CASE), and Nick Peterson (Jr.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) teamed up to get third on the 400-yard medley relay with a 3:51.49 time. The team of Bill Peterson (Fr.- Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul), Brian Jordan (So.-Madison/West), and Patrick Finley (Fr.-Waunakee) captured third in the 1500-yard freestyle relay in 15:56.90. In the 200-yard medley relay, the crew of Hauerwas, Jordan, Schmidt-Jackson, and Bill Peterson took third in 1:45.13. Schultz, Bill Peterson, Schmidt-Jackson claimed third in the 300-yard breastroke at 3:18.60. Bill Peterson, Schmidt-Jackson, Finley, and Nick Peterson wrapped up third in the 400-yard freestyle event in 3:24.65.

The women took third in many events. The diving team nabbed third in the 3-meter event with 152.90 points and third again in the 1-meter dives with 153.10.

Emily Viau (Jr.-Apple Valley, MN/Eastview), Amanda Kroger (So.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View), Lindsey Koch (So.-Chisago Lakes, MN), and Annie Gorman (Sr.-Menomonie) took third in the 800-yard freestyle relay in 8:13.41. Emily Diehl (So.-Prairie du Sac/Sauk Praire), Jenna Spicer (Fr.-Hastings, MN), and Hannah Rivall (So.-Stillwater, MN) swam a 3:18.60 300-yard I.M. relay to grab third. In the 1500-yard freestyle race, the team of Viau, Gorman, and Kroger swam into third in 16:35.89. Emmie Lee (So.-Zimmerman,MN/Elk River), Alissa Condra (Jr.-Rhinelander), Diehl, and Kyle Welke (So.-Eau Claire/North) teamed up for a 1:57.73 200-yard medley relay to finish third. Gorman, Viau, and Condra finished third in the 300-yard butterfly relay with a 3:18.06 time. Spicer swam with Diehl and Gulia Mangini (Jr.-Inver Grove Heights, MN/Derham Hall) for a 3:38.61 300-yard breaststroke relay for third. Finally, Gorman, Welke, Viau, and Ane Klomps (So.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) took third in the 400-yard freestyle race at 3:51.06.

The next event for the swimming and diving teams is December 2nd and 3rd in Appleton for the Gene Davis Invitational, which is hosted by Lawrence University. The starting times are 4:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. respectively.
