Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Volleyball Finishes Unbeaten In Stout Tourney Posted: Saturday, October 22, 2005 MENOMONIE - The UW-Eau Claire volleyball team finished off strong on the second day of the UW-Stout Volleyball Tournament sweeping both the University of Dubuque and Hamline University today and finishing unbeaten in the tournament. After going 2-0 Friday night, the Blugolds took care of Dubuque in their first match of the day, sweeping the Spartans in three games: 30-19, 30-17, 30-25. In the Blugolds second and final match of the day, the Blugolds swept Hamline University 30-21, 30-20, 30-24. Jenny Wolter (Sr.-Osceola, WI) led the Blugolds with 13 kills in the first match. Carly Freiborg (Jr.-Sacred Heart, MN/Renville County West) had 40 assists for the Blugolds. In the second match, Molly Menard (Sr.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) led the Blugolds in kills with 16. Menard was also named to the All-Tournament Team. Freiborg again led the Blugolds in assists with 37. The Blugolds finished on top of the eight-team tourney going 4-0 followed by, UW-Superior (3-1), UW-Stout (2-2), Illinois Wesleyan (2-2), UW-Stevens Point (2-2), University of Dubuque (1-3), Hamline University (1-3), and Viterbo (1-3). The Blugolds now have an overall record of 22-3 and are 6-2 in the WIAC. Up next the Blugolds will compete in the River Falls tournament next Friday (Oct. 28) and Saturday (Oct. 29). The Blugolds first match will begin at 5 p.m. with their second match slated for 7 p.m. Friday. - JR - |
