NORTHFIELD, MN - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team scored a season-high six goals today in its 6-1 victory over Carleton College.

The Blugolds have now scored 12 goals in their past three contests. The Blugolds had only scored 16 goals total prior to today in 12 contests.

Today's match was a makeup from earlier this season when the match was postponed due to weather. The Blugolds were originally scheduled to play the Knights for their second match of the season.

The Blugolds dominated the match from start to finish. The Blugolds out shot their opponents once again by a margin of 24-8.

The Blugolds got a little luck on their first goal when the Knights put the ball in their own net to give UWEC an early 1-0 lead. Maria Iaizzo (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) then dribbled past two defenders to score the Blugolds second goal of the contest. Marcia Foltz (Sr.-Madison/Memorial) assisted on the goal.

Foltz then scored the Blugolds third goal at 23:54. Carleton then finally got on the board late in the first half for a halftime score of 3-1.

However, the Blugolds came out firing in the second half when freshman Jessica Millard (Fr.-Madison/La Follette) scored her first collegiate goal on a header off of a penalty kick. Emily Meisinger (Jr.-Green Bay/Notre Dame Academy) assisted on the goal.

Foltz then scored her second goal of the match and her seventh of the season in the 72nd minute to give the Blugolds a 5-1 lead. Liz Kooistra (Fr.-Lakeville, MN) was credited with the assist. Freshman Allison Smith (Bloomington, MN/Jefferson) then scored her first career goal on a picture-perfect penalty shot to cap the Blugolds 6-1 victory.

With the win the Blugolds improve to 11-1-3 overall and remain undefeated in the WIAC at 5-0-1. The loss drops Carleton to 3-9-2 overall. The Blugolds have won six straight matches against the Knights.

Up next the Blugolds will travel to play I-94 rival UW-Stout, Friday, with the action set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
