The Blugolds had won their previous three meets over WIAC opponents, but Whitewater was too much today. There were a lot of close singles matches that the Blugolds came up short on. No.1 singles player Katie Kuzma (Sr.-Buffalo, MN) lost in three sets, dropping the third set 6-3. In the closest match of the day No.4 singles player Molly Hunt (Jr.-Owatonna, MN) lost a heartbreaker 6-4, 4-6, (10-8). No.5 singles player Alli Taplin (Jr.-Dayton, MN/Champlin Park) also took her opponent to three sets, but came up short. The loss drops the Blugolds to 5-4 in dual meets overall and 4-2 in the conference. The Warhawks improve their record to 11-3 overall and a conference record 5-0. Up next the Blugolds will participate in the WIAC tennis championship held in Madison. The tournament begins on Saturday (Oct.22). Eau Claire 0 Whitewater 9 Singles Doubles - JR - |
