Three In A Row For Women's Tennis

OSHKOSH - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team won its third consecutive meet today by sweeping UW-Oshkosh 9-0.

After defeating UW-Stevens Point yesterday afternoon, the Blugolds came right back today and took care of the Titans. Five of the six singles matches were straight set victories for the Blugolds.

No.1 singles player Katie Kuzma (Sr.-Buffalo, MN) won her third straight match by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Kristie Carlson (So.-Arden Hills, MN/Mounds View), Molly Hunt (Jr.-Owatonna, MN), and Laura Geissler (Jr.-Coon Rapids, MN) also won for the third consecutive time. Hunt dropped the first set in her match, but prevailed to win 4-6, 6-3, (10-3). Liz Deprey (So.-Green Bay/Notre Dame) and Alli Taplin (Jr.-Dayton, MN/Champlin Park) were the other Blugold singles members to win.

The results were no different when it came to doubles. Kuzma and Geissler took care of their opponents at No.1 doubles, 8-4. Carlson and Hunt shut out their opponents at No.2 doubles by a score of 8-0, and Deprey and Kristin Neuman (So.-Green Bay/Ashwaubenon) completed the sweep at No. 3 doubles by winning 8-5.

With the win the Blugolds improve to a dual meet record of 5-3 overall and a conference record of 4-1. The loss drops the Titans to 1-6 overall and a conference record of 0-5.

Up next the Blugolds will host UW-Whitewater Friday (Oct. 14) with the action starting at 3 p.m.
