Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Top Place First Day For Women's Golf At Championships Posted: Saturday, October 1, 2005 SUPERIOR - So far, so good for the UW-Eau Claire women's golf team as they try to repeat last year's championship performance. Of seven teams, Eau Claire stands on top after day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Championships at the Nemadji Golf Course. The 314 total gives the Blugolds the number one spot. In second is UW-Stevens Point at 325 and 11 strokes behind Eau Claire. UW-Whitewater is in third with 334, while UW-Oshkosh is way back in fourth as they trail Whitewater by one stroke. 350 strokes gives UW-River Falls the five spot while UW-Platteville fills in sixth place at 360. UW-Superior finishes the day in seventh while hitting 372. Three Blugolds placed in the top seven. Maggie Loney (Sr.-River Falls) leads all golfers with a 71 first day. She aims for the records books tomorrow as she looks to be the first person ever to finish first in consecutive WIAC Championships. Jesse Thompson (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) is in third overall with a 75. Between them is Ahna Hendrickson of Platteville and her 73 score. Sixth overall was Meghan Sobotta (So.-Arcadia) and her 79 stroke performance. With 89, Kim Huber (So.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) finished the day for fourth on the team and Noelle Weber (So.-Onalaska) was the final Eau Claire golfer at 92. Eau Claire looks to retain the top position tomorrow as the Championships wrap up. Tee time is at 9:00 a.m. - PH - |
