Women's Golf Top Oshkosh & Wins Knox Invite

GALESBURG, Ill. - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team shot a 328 en route to taking first place out of 17 teams, including topping Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival UW-Oshkosh, here today at the Soangetaha Country Club.

The Blugolds topped UW-Oshkosh by six strokes after the Titans outshot the Blugolds by 17 strokes last weekend in the two-day Whitewater Invite.

Heading all Blugolds was current WIAC women's golfer of the week Maggie Loney (So.-River Falls) who shot a front side 40 and a back side 41 to finish in a tie for fourth place overall with an 81.

Jesse Thompson (Fr.-Plover/SPASH) also shot a round of 81 but was competing as an individual. Kelly Gerzsenyi (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) and Crystal O'Connell (So.-New Richmond) finished in a tie for ninth place on the tournament as they both shot 82 on the day.

Susan Karlman (So.-Onalsaka/Holmen) and Jennifer Prock (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) also shot matching rounds, 83, to finish in a tie for 14th overall.

The Blugolds look to continue their winning ways next weekend at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.
