FORT WAYNE, IN - NAIA's second ranked team was too much today for the UW-Eau Claire football team as the University of St. Francis defeated the Blugolds 35-10.

The Blugolds got off to a nice start when Ryan Schulz (Jr.-Maple Grove, MN) intercepted Cougars quarterback Chris Bramell in Blugold territory. The Blugolds then drove down the field and got the first score of the game when Jesse Krzyzanowski (Sr.-Thorp, WI) hit his brother Darin Krzyzanowski (Sr.-Thorp, WI) for a 21 yard touchdown pass. The Blugolds led at the end of the first quarter 7-0.

The second quarter belonged to the Cougars as they out scored the Blugolds 21-3. The Cougars got on the board early in the quarter when Adam Denning punched it in from eight yards out. Cougars quarterback Chris Bramell then snuck it in from two yards out.

The Blugolds got their final score of the game when Andy Schneider (Sr.-Green Bay/Ashwaubenon) kicked a 26 yard field goal. The Cougars came back and scored with 18 seconds left in the half on a 5 yard run by Michael Ledo to give the Cougars a 21-10 halftime lead.

The Blugolds started the second half driving all the way down inside the Cougar five yard line, but was unable to come away with any points when they were stopped on fourth and goal. The Cougars scored again following a Blugold fumble when Bramell snuck it in for a second time. Bramell scored one more time from three yards out for the game's final score.

The Blugolds compiled 298 yards of total offense, while the Cougars had 459. Darin Krzyzanowski had 12 receptions for 78 yards, while Tony Hull (So.-Blaine, MN/Spring Lake Park) had 7 catches for 110 yards for the Blugolds. Andrew Jones (Sr.-Wild Rose) led the Blugolds in tackles with 12.

With the lose the Blugolds fall to a record of 1-2 on the season, while the Cougars improve to 3-0.

Up next for the Blugolds is a conference showdown next Saturday with No. 11 UW-Whitewater. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 start at Whitewater.
