Soccer Suffers First Loss

ST. PAUL, MN - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of fifth ranked Macalester College tonight in St. Paul.
Macalester scored goals in the fourth and fifth minutes and hung on the rest of the way to beat the Blugolds 2-1. The two goals the Blugolds gave up are the most they have given up this season combined.
The Blugolds lone goal came at 54:44 when Maria Iaizzo (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) put it in the net. Liz Kooistra (Fr.-Lakeville, MN) assisted on the goal.
Annie Borton scored both of the goals for Macalester.
With the loss the Blugolds fall to a record of 5-1-1 on the season, with a conference record of 2-0. Macalester improves to a record of 6-0.
Up next the Blugolds will travel to Illinois to take on Elmhurst College Sunday starting at 2:00.
