AnoTher Conference Win For Volleyball

EAU CLAIRE - Today at the McPhee Physical Education Center, UW-Eau Claire defeated UW-Superior with scores of 30-16, 30-20, and 30-25.
The Blugolds defense came through strong and held Superior to hitting percentages of .033, .030, and .257, respectively. The home team topped out at .593 in the first set.
Leading the team in kills was Jessica Groh (Jr.-Eau Claire/North) with 16 as she had a personal hitting percentage of .789. Molly Menard (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) followed with 15 kills of her own. Carly Freiborg (Jr.-Sacred Heart, MN/Renville County West) led both teams with 50 assists. The leader in digs was Shanna Berger (Jr.-Baldwin/Baldwin-Woodville) with 14.
This victory puts Eau Claire at an 11-1 record overall with a 3-1 record in the conference. This loss brought Superior below .500 at 5-6 overall. They are currently winless against WIAC teams at 0-3.
Volleyball action continues this weekend with the Siegenthaler Memorial Tournament here in Eau Claire on Friday and Saturday. The first matchup is against UW-Stout, the only team to have beaten Eau Claire.
