Volleyball Defeats Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT - The UW-Eau Claire volleyball team defeated its second conference opponent in as many days, beating UW-Stevens Point today in four games 3-1.
The Blugolds started out well taking the first game with a score of 30-26. The Blugolds had the advantage in kills in that first game 18-12.
The Pointers than came right back and took the second game 31-29. The Blugolds then won a close third game 34-32. The Blugolds then closed out the Pointers in the fourth game 30-21.
Carly Freiborg (Jr.-Sacred Heart, MN/Renville County West) led the Blugolds in assists with 44. Molly Menard (Sr.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) led the Blugolds in kills with 18. Jessica Groh (Jr.-Eau Claire, WI/North) and Jodi Dunbar (Jr.-Platteville, WI) each added 12 kills for the Blugolds.
The Blugolds have now won 12 consecutive matches against Stevens Point.
With the win the Blugolds improve to a record of 10-1 on the season and a conference record of 2-1. With the lose the Pointers fall to a record of 9-4 and a conference record of 1-2.
The Blugolds next match will be a home contest against WIAC conference opponent UW-Superior Wednesday at McPhee Physical Education Center. The action is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
