UW-Stout Hands Volleyball First Loss

MENOMONIE - UW-Eau Claire's perfect record met its end in Menomonie tonight as Eau Claire lost to UW-Stout by scores of 24-30, 25-30, and 28-30.
The big hitters for the Blugolds were kept under control by the Blue Devils as the visitors hit .200, .103, and .139 in each set, respectively. Meanwhile Stout hit above .200 in all three sets and reached .500 in the decisive set.
Carly Freiborg (Jr.-Sacred Heart, MN/Renville County West) had 32 assists for Blugolds, while Jodi Dunbar (Jr.-Platteville) led in kills with 10. However, it was not enough as the home team held off the Blugolds as they came closer in each set.
Tonight's results leave the Blugolds at 8-1 overall and 0-1 versus WIAC opponents, while Stout is now 8-2 and 1-0 in the conference.
The Blugolds face the defending WIAC champions on Friday as they travel to UW-Whitewater to challenge the Warhawks. The match begins at 7:00 p.m.
