Women's Cross Country Off To Fast start

RIVER FALLS - UW-Eau Claire came away with a first place finish at the five team UW-River Falls Invitational here today on the UW-River Falls campus.
The Blugolds had a dominant meet with 19 total points and all top five runners finishing in the top ten. In second was St. Thomas with 53 points, while UW-River Falls had 68, Winona State collecting 117 and Northwestern College finishing fifth with 146 points. Of the top ten runners overall, the only spots Eau Claire did not take were fourth, fifth and tenth.
The champion of the meet was Molly Warner (So.-Mosinee) and leading 24:11 time. Rachel Anderson (Sr.-ST. Paul, MN/Harding) finished second behind her with 24:33. Six seconds behind Anderson at third was Jane-Marie Ovanin (Sr.-Amherst) with her 24:39 finish. In the six spot was Amber Hertz (So.-Baraboo) with a time of 25:16. The last point qualifier was Bridget Bocher (So.-Watertown) at 25:17. There were also notable performances from this incredible team from Beth Lutz (Fr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) who ran a 25:19 race and Korah Petrasko (Jr.-Appleton/East) with a race of 25:33. Lutz finished ninth overall while Petrasko finished 12th.
The next meet for the Blugolds is the St. Olaf meet at Northfield, MN next Saturday. The pistol is set to go off at 10:30 a.m.
