Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Fifth Place Finish For Women's Golf At Home Invite Posted: Sunday, September 4, 2005 EAU CLAIRE -- On the second day of the UW-Eau Claire Invitational at Mill Run Golf Course, Eau Claire moved up to spots to finish in the five slot while hitting the Wild Ridge course. The Blugolds shot a 675 for 95 over par. Eau Claire was behind the winning St. Thomas team's 648 score and 68 over par by 27 strokes. Others in the top five were Gustavus Adolphus in second at 70 over par, third place Illinois Wesleyan at 92 over par, and UW-Oshkosh just ahead of Eau Claire in fourth place with 94 over par. Maggie Loney (Sr.-River Falls) held her top spot in the second day to become the top overall golfer of the invitational. She shot a 76 in the front nine and a 77 in the back nine to give her eight over par for the day. Her two-day total of 153 strokes and 8 over the 145 score par beat all other golfers for the best score of the invitational. She also held even on par 5 holes this weekend to tie for the lead on par 5's. Moving up from 28th, Meghan Sobotta (So.-Arcadia) finished the second day with a 160 score and 15 over par to tie her with two others for third place. Also moving up for the Blugolds was Jessica Thompson (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) who ended with 164 and 19 over par. This gave her a tie with two others for 11th overall. The next golf match for Eau Claire is set for Friday, September 9th in Galesburg, IL at 12:30 p.m. They will face Knox College. - PH - |
