Sat, May 25, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date stafslien Finishes Second, 4 X 400 Relay Qualifies For Finals Posted: Thursday, May 26, 2005 WAVERLY, IA - UW-Eau Claire jumper/hurdler Jen Stafslien (Sr. -Onalaska/West Salem) finished second in the long jump while the 4 x 400-meter relay team advanced to Saturday's final today at day one of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Wartburg College at Walston-Hoover Stadium. Stafslien leaped a career-best 19-0.5 feet finishing second to Andretta Colley of St. Thomas who jumped 19-5.25 to win the event. Stafslien was one of only two jumpers to clear 19 feet on the day. The second place finish marks the best finish for a Blugold long jumper in school history as Stafslien became only the second person in school history to break 19 feet. The 4 x 400-meter relay team of Liz Faller (So.-Marinette/Luther College), Kristi Hansen (Sr.-Rosemount, MN), Stafslien and Breanna McMullen (Sr.-Fall Creek) advanced to Saturday's finals posting their second-fastest time this season of 3:51.21. The 4 x 400-meter final is set for 4:55 PM Saturday. McMullen also competed in the 400-meter hurdles but did not qualify for finals. Events that will feature Blugold athletes in day two of the NCAA Championships include the John Schuna (Sr.-Hudson) in the men's shot put, Jessica Owens (Fr.-Elm Grove/Brookfield East) in the women's high jump and Stafslien in the 100-meter hurdles. |
