Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Golf Remains In Third Place At Nationals Posted: Thursday, May 12, 2005 SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team shot a 335 today and remains in third place after the third round of the NCAA Division III National Championships held here today at Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club. Methodist College and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor continue to have a hold on the top two spots. Methodist is in first at 952 followed by Mary Hardin-Baylor at 963. The Blugolds are a distant third at 1002. Maggie Loney (Jr.-River Falls) had her worst round of the tournament shooting a 10-over 82 but remains in the top five at 21-over for the tournament. Loney shot 3-over on the front nine but two double bogeys led to a 7-over on the back nine. Andrea Kloppman (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) had her best round of the tournament with an 11-over 83. Kloppman had her second birdie of the tournament but also carded three double bogeys. Jesse Thompson (So.-Stevens Point/SPASH) struggled today shooting a 20-over 92. Thompson had a rough front nine with four double bogeys and three bogeys. Meghan Sobotta (Fr.-Arcadia) struggled on the front nine but finished with a strong back nine to finish with her best round of the tournament at 13-over. Sobotta ended her round with a birdie on the final hole. Kelly Gerzsenyi (So.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) shot a 14-over 86 today to finish the round in 42nd place. The tournament will conclude tomorrow with the final round.
