Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Golf Falls To 12th At Nationals Posted: Tuesday, May 10, 2005 HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team shaved two strokes off its opening round but fell three spots to 12th place after the second round of the NCAA Division III National Championship held here today at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort. Guilford College took 17 strokes off its opening round to move in to first place with a 587. The Blugolds are 33 shots back of Guilford with a 44-over 620. Guilford's Dave Patterson is in first individually with a 6-under 138. Tyler Leis (So.-Reedsburg) continues to lead the Blugolds with a 7-over 151. Leis shot 4-over in the front nine but came back to shoot 2-under on the back nine including a birdie and an eagle. Derek Pirkl (Jr.-Stoughton) matched his opening round 77 in the second to finish the day at 10-over. Pirkl knocked in three birdies but his round included a double bogey and a nine on the par-5 10th hole. Mike Greer (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) shot a 7-over 79 today to finish the second round at 13-over. Greer ended the round on a positive note with a birdie on the final hole. Grant Lissick (Jr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) shaved three strokes off his opening round with a 6-over 78 to finish the day at 15-over. Aaron Olson (Sr.-Chetek) rebounded from a rough first round taking 10 strokes off his opening round with a 5-over 77 today. The championship will continue tomorrow with the third round.
