Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track In Sixth At WIAC Championships Posted: Friday, May 6, 2005 LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire women's outdoor track and field team is currently in sixth place out of nine teams after day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships in La Crosse. The Blugolds have a team score of 24 points after day one of the two-day event. UW-La Crosse leads the way with 67.50 points with UW-Oshkosh in second 20 points behind. Jen Stafslien (Sr.-Onalaska/West Salem) led the way with a second place finish in the long jump event. She posted a distance of 5.61 meters (18-5) for the runner up outcome. She was just two inches away from the winner of the event. Stafslien also posted the best time in the 100-meter hurdles in the preliminaries at 14.38 seconds. The time is a new Eau Claire school record for the event, besting the old record of 14.47 seconds by Breanna McMullen (Sr.-Fall Creek). Stephanie Barnes (So.-Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) took second place in the pole vault event with a new school-record height of 3.85 meters (12-7 ?). She finished second only to a track record of 14.00 meters (13-1 ?) set by La Crosse's Angela Hilgers. McMullen finished second in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.95. She is looking for a third conference title in the event. McMullen also placed third in the prelims of the 100-meter hurdle event. Ashley Nelson (Sr.-Darwin, MN/Litchfield) placed third in preliminary round action of the 100-meter dash. Jane-Marie Ovanin (Jr.-Amherst) grabbed sixth place in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:45.73. The Blugolds will look to advance in the team standings tomorrow in the final day of the event. The action begins at 10:00 a.m. The Blugolds will be back in action next Friday at the NCC Last Chance Meet in Naperville, Illinois. - DN - |
