Posted: Saturday, August 30, 2003
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team attempted to derail the 45-game win streak of the top-ranked Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops but fell short losing 3-0 here today at Nazareth College.
The Blugolds kept the game at zeros for nearly 40 minutes before Liz Sheehan scored on a cross from Sarah Wall at 39:38 to give the Bishops the lead they wouldn't relinquish.
In the second half Ohio Wesleyan tacked on two more goals at 50:26 and 69:52 with the final goal coming from the second-team All-American Wall.
For the game the Blugolds were outshot by the Bishops 20-6 with goalie Megan Brady (Jr.-Dousman/Waukesha Catholic) stopping eight shots. Ohio Wesleyan also held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Eau Claire will be in action tomorrow against the 20th ranked Denison University of Ohio. The game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
