Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swimming & Diving Hands Out Team Awards Posted: Wednesday, April 27, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams received its end-of-the-year awards for the 2004-05 season recently at the Blugolds annual banquet. The Most Valuable awards went to diver Scott Heatwole (Jr.-Port Washington) and swimmers Peter Shafe (So.-Burlington) and Cori Severson (Jr.-Brainerd, MN). Heatwole earned honorable mention All-American status at nationals in the one-meter diving event. Severson also earned honorable mention All-American accolades at nationals, grabbing 10th place in the 50-yard freestyle event. Heatwole and Severson were also tabbed team captains for the 2005-06 season, along with Nick Peterson (So.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) and Brian Schwartz (So.-Bemidji, MN) on the men's side and Annie Gorman (Jr.-Menomonie) on the women's side. Heatwole was named the 2004-05 Diver of the Year at the banquet while Severson was named the Swimmer of the Year. The Most Inspirational awards went to Schwartz, Shafe, and Sarah Rottier (Fr.-Green Bay/Southwest) while the Most Improved awards were given to Doug Horton (Fr.-Burnsville, MN) and Emmie Lee (Fr.-Zimmerman, MN/Elk River). The Hardest Work awards for the 2004-05 season were won by Gorman and diver Bryan Dykstra (Fr.-Racine/Horlick). The Coaches' Blugold awards were won by Schwartz and Severson. - DN - |
