Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Golf Shares First At St. John's Invite Posted: Sunday, April 24, 2005 MONTICELLO, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team shot a 579 in tying Gustavus Adolphus for first place honors at the St. John's Spring Invite held here today at Monticello Country Club. The Blugolds shot an opening round 286 at the one-day, two-round invite. Eau Claire followed with a 293 to earn a tie with the Gusties. It's the Blugolds only first place finish this year. Eau Claire placed four of its five golfers in the top 10 led by Derek Pirkl (Jr.-Stoughton). Pirkl shot a 1-under par for the tournament to tie for second place. His two-round score of 141 is his lowest total of the year. Mike Greer (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) was next on the Blugold list tying for firth with a 3-over 145. Greer's opening round 72 was his lowest round of the year. Tyler Leis (So.-Reedsburg) tied for seventh for his highest finish of the year. Leis shot a 4-over par 146 that included an opening round in which he shot a season-low 71. Grant Lissick (Jr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) shot two rounds of 74 to finish with a 6-over 148 and a tie for tenth. Brian Giese (Jr.-Prairie du Chien) made his first appearance of the spring season shooting a 10-over 152 to tie for 25th. The Gusties tied with Eau Claire after an opening round 292 followed by a round of 287. Jon Hagedorn of Gustavus took first individually shooting a 3-under 139.
