Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Blugold Soccer Takes Down St. Olaf Posted: Wednesday, September 3, 2003 The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team returned home to defeat the Oles of St. Olaf College 5-2 here today at Bollinger Fields. The Blugolds opened up the scoring at the 14:49 mark when Erin Ziech (Sr.-McFarland) took a pass from Kacie Fry (Sr.-Depere/Notre Dame Academy) and scored from the top box. Only minutes later Jill Cope (So.-Golden Valley, MN/Hopkins) scored on a Marcia Foltz (So.-Madison/Memorial) pass to put Eau Claire up 2-0. After St. Olaf scored a goal to pull within one the Blugolds fired back with two goals of their own. Foltz scored on a header off a pass from Fry at the 30:36 mark and Fry added a goal of her own at the 37:20 mark to put the Blugolds up 4-1. The Oles got Kelsey Watt's second goal of the first half to pull within 4-2 going into half. The second half remained scoreless for nearly 23 minutes until Fry scored her second goal of the game on a corner kick at 77:42 to conclude the scoring. Eau Claire outshot the Oles 14-4 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Megan Brady (Jr.-Dousman/Waukesha Catholic) played all 90 minutes in goal making two saves. The Blugolds will be in action Saturday when they take on St. Thomas at Bollinger Fields. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. |
