Sun, May 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track Takes Second At Blugold Open Posted: Saturday, April 16, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's outdoor track and field team took second place out of 11 teams here today at the Blugold Outdoor Open at Simpson Field. UW-La Crosse won the event with a team score of 140 points followed by the Blugolds with 125.50. UW-Stevens Point finished third with a score of 112.50 followed by Winona State (MN), St. Thomas (MN), UM-Duluth, St. Benedict (MN), St. Mary's (MN), UW-Superior, St. Scholastica, and Minnesota. Jen Stafslien (Sr.-Onalaska/West Salem) led the Blugolds with wins in two events. Stafslien won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.86 seconds after qualifying for the finals in a time of 14.76 seconds. She won in the finals by two-tenths of a second. Stafslien also won the long jump event with a distance of 5.63 meters (18-5.75), winning by just .75 of an inch. Breanna McMullen (Sr.-Fall Creek) had a strong showing in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the event in a time of 1:03.36. She won the event by more than a full second. McMullen also finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.51 seconds.
Sarah Kasabian-Larson (Sr.-East Peoria, IL/E.P.C.H.S.) grabbed the only other win for Eau Claire on the day, doing so in the 10,000-meter run. She posted a time of 39:16.80 for the victory. Jane-Marie Ovanin (Jr.-Amherst) also fared well in a long distance race, taking second place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:28.87.
Jessica Owens (Fr.-Elm Grove/Brookfield East) earned a second place outcome in the high jump. She cleared a height of 1.62 meters (5-3 ?) for the finish. Kristi Hansen (Sr.-Rosemount, MN) earned a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash. She posted a time of 58.78 in the race. Stephanie Barnes (So.-Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) continued her phenomenal season with yet another win in the pole vault event. She won the event by clearing a height of 3.65 meters (11-11.75) despite rainy and slippery conditions.
Paula Crossfield (So.-Madison/East) also grabbed a second place finish on the day, earning it in the discus event. She recorded a toss of 38.10 meters (125-00) in the finals.
