Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Tennis Defeats Oshkosh, La Crosse Posted: Saturday, April 9, 2005 WHITEWATER - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team won two hard fought battles defeating UW-Oshkosh and UW-La Crosse by scores of 4-3 here today. The Blugolds opened the day with the Eagles of La Crosse with strong singles play in the middle of the lineup leading the way. Tim Eisele (Fr.-Lakeville, MN/Apple Valley) and Erik Brandner (Fr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) each won in straight sets. Eisele won 6-2, 6-3 at two singles while Brandner won 6-3, 7-6 at five singles. Aaron Nordenskjold (So.-Red Wing, MN) and Jeff Peterson (So.-Edina, MN) both needed to go to a third set to win. Nordenskjold rebounded from a first set 6-4 loss to win the final two sets 6-3, 6-4 at three singles. Peterson won his opening set at four singles 6-4 but dropped the second 7-5. He came back to win the final set 6-3. Eau Claire used balanced play in singles and doubles action to beat Oshkosh. Three singles players and two doubles team won for the four Blugold points. Eisele and Brandner both won in singles action with Eisele winning 6-3, 6-1 at three singles and Brandner winning 6-4, 6-1 at five singles. Eisele improves to 12-5 on the year while Brandner moves to 14-3. Chris Baga (So.-Duluth, MN/Marshall College Prep) added a 6-1, 7-5 win at six singles. Peterson and Jake Znidarsich (Fr.-La Crosse/Central) improved to 7-2 on the year with an 8-3 at two doubles. Chris Slagle (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) and C.J. Rose (Fr.-Lakeville, MN/Apple Valley) teamed to win 8-4 at three doubles. The Blugolds improve to 10-5 in dual meets and 2-1 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual meets with the wins today. Eau Claire will be in action next when it competes in the Northern Collegiate Tennis Association Invite Friday and Saturday.
