Blugolds In Third After First Day Of Wartburg Invite

WAVERLY, Iowa - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team shot a 5-over 293 to hold third place after the opening round of the Wartburg Spring Invitational held here today at Centennial Oaks Golf Course.
Grant Lissick (Jr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) and Mike Greer (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) are pacing the Blugolds in the first round. Both shot a 1-under 71 to tie for fifth place overall.
Tyler Leis (So.-Reedsburg) shot a 2-over 74 to finish the day tied for 24th. Derek Pirkl (Jr.-Stoughton) shot a 77 to conclude the opening round tied for 48th while Cole Stark (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) is one shot back of Pirkl and tied for 56th.
Host Wartburg College and Central College (IA) are tied for first after shooting even par 288. Wartburg's Keith Zietlow is in first individually after shooting a 3-under 69.
The invite will conclude tomorrow with action teeing off at 8 a.m. at the Waverly Municipal Golf and Country Club.
