Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Golf Finishes Third At Loras Invite Posted: Sunday, April 3, 2005 DUBUQUE, Iowa - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team opened the spring season with a third place finish shooting a two-round score of 607 at the Loras Spring Invitational concluded here today at The Meadows. Derek Pirkl (Jr.-Stoughton) led the Blugolds shooting a 2-over 146 for the tournament. Pirkl shot a 71 yesterday followed by a 75 today to finish alone in fourth place. Three of the five Blugold golfers improved on their first round scores. Grant Lissick (Jr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) shaved two strokes off his first round shooting a 76 today to finish tied for 22nd for the tournament. Cole Stark (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) took one stroke off his first round with a 77 today to tie for 31st. Mike Greer (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) shot a 75 today cutting six shots off his opening round to finish in a tie for 38th. Tyler Leis (So.-Reedsburg) shot a combined 155 for the tournament to join Stark in a tie for 31st. St. Ambrose University took first place with a 599 followed by Illinois Wesleyan with a 604. Pete Weber of Loras College finished first individually shooting a 5-under 139 at his home course. Eau Claire will be in action next when it competes in the Wartburg Invitational Friday and Saturday.
