Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Gymnasts Finish Fourth At Nationals Posted: Friday, April 1, 2005 LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team had its best finish in school history taking fourth place with a score of 184.450 at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Nationals held here today at Mitchell Hall. UW-La Crosse took first for the fifth consecutive year with a score of 189.950. SUNY-Brockport took second with a 185.625 while SUNY-Cortland took third with a 185.375. Ithaca College finished fifth with a 182.700 followed by UW-Oshkosh with a 179.425. La Crosse had the highest team score in three of the four events taking the uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Cortland took first in the vault competition. Alison Eagles (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) and Angie Cich (Plymouth, MN/Armstrong) each advanced to tomorrow's vault competition. Eagles tied for fourth with a 9.450 while Cich tied for eighth with a 9.400. Lynn Morris (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) and Theresa Lynch (Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear) advanced to tomorrow's uneven bars competition. Morris tied for eighth with a 9.175 while Lynch tied for 10th with a 9.150. Eagles, Lynch and Ashley Brett (Forest Lake, MN) all advanced to tomorrow's floor exercise competition. Eagles took fifth with a 9.650, Lynch took eighth with a 9.550 and Brett tied for ninth with a 9.475. Lynch took sixth in the all-around competition with a 37.200 while Morris took eighth with a 37.075 and Eagles 10th with a 36.875. Competition for individual titles starts tomorrow at 4 p.m. The tournament is set to conclude at 6 p.m. - JL - |
