Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Dykstra, Heatwole Finish Up At Nationals Posted: Saturday, March 19, 2005 HOLLAND, Mich. - UW-Eau Claire men divers Bryan Dykstra (Fr. -Racine/Horlick) and Scott Heatwole (Jr. -Port Washington) competed in the three-meter diving event today at the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, where both failed to advance to the finals. Dykstra was the hard luck diver of the event, finishing in ninth place in preliminaries. The top eight divers in the preliminaries advance to the final competition. He finished with a score of 394.65, while the last diver to reach the finals posted a score of 394.80. Heatwole finished in 17th place after the preliminaries, posting a score of 347.10. Mike Shaw, who was the winner of the one-meter diving event on Thursday, also emerged victorious in the three-meter event. Shaw is from Springfield College (MA) and was named the Diver of the Meet. Dykstra and Heatwole, the only two members of the UW-Eau Claire swimming and diving team to compete at nationals, earned enough points to place the Blugolds 28th at the event. They finished with a total of 23 points. Kenyon won the team portion of the event, marking an unprecedented 26th consecutive victory at the NCAA Division III Championships. - DN - |
