Sat, May 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Kuzma Takes Singles, Doubles Title At Eau Claire Open Posted: Monday, March 14, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - Katie Kuzma (Jr. -Buffalo, MN) took first place in singles action and teamed with Laura Geissler (So. -Coon Rapids, MN) to take first in doubles play at the 7th Annual Eau Claire Adult Open concluded Sunday at the YMCA Tennis Center. Kuzma received a bye in the opening round of the singles tournament and advanced to the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-0 win over teammate Alli Taplin (So.-Dayton, MN/Champlin Park). Kuzma took out another Blugold in the semis with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Lindsay Lee (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) and own the finals 6-1, 6-2. Kuzma and Geissler breezed through the six-team doubles bracket winning each match in straight sets. The tandem won in the semifinals 6-3, 6-4 and defeated teammates Molly Hunt (So.-Owatonna, MN) and Sarah Riordan (Fr.-Appleton/North) 7-5, 6-0 in the finals. The Blugolds will be in action next when they take on Salve Regina University Saturday in Orlando, Fla. - JL - |
