Tue, Jun 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Peterson, Brandner Reach Quarters Of Eau Claire Open Posted: Monday, March 14, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - Jeff Peterson (So. -Edina, MN) and Erik Brandner (Fr. -Eau Claire/Memorial) each advanced to the quarterfinals of the 7th Annual Eau Claire Adult Open concluded Sunday at the YMCA Tennis Center. Peterson took out teammate Erik Hansen (Fr.-DePere) 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 to advance to the round of 16 while Brandner needed a three-set marathon match to advance. Brandner defeated former Blugold Chad Fawcett 7-6 (7-1), 6-7 (4-7), 10-8 to move on. Both Peterson and Brandner moved on to the quarters with wins over teammates. Peterson took out Brandon Buth (Fr.-Appleton/West) 6-2, 6-1 while Brandner defeated Chris Slagle (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) 6-3, 6-4. Peterson and Brandner fell to the top two seeds in the quarters. Peterson lost to second-seeded Douglas Matuska 6-2, 6-3 while Brandner fell to top-seeded and eventual winner Cory Eider 6-1, 6-0. The tandem of Aaron Nordenskjold (So.-Red Wing, MN) and Tim Eisele (Fr.-Lakeville, MN/Apple Valley) advanced to the semifinals of the doubles action before falling. Nordenskjold and Eisele blew through the first two rounds winning both in straight sets. They fell in the semis 6-3, 6-1 to the eventual champions. The Blugolds will be in action next when they play the University of Chicago Sunday in San Antonio, Texas. The dual meet is scheduled to begin at noon. - JL - |
