Schuna Takes Third In Shot Put At Nationals

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - John Schuna (Sr. -Hudson) finished in third place in the shot put competition here today at the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University.
Schuna advanced to the finals with a throw of 17.17 meters (56-4), which was the second furthest throw in the preliminaries. He posted an identical throw in the finals to finish third in the event. Cody Brotherton of McMurry University won the event with a distance of 18.05 meters (59-2.75), a new season best in Division III. Brandon Houle of UW-Oshkosh grabbed second with a throw of 17.84 meters (58-6.5) after posting the third best throw in the preliminaries.
The All-American honor for Schuna is the fourth of his career indoor. He won the shot put event in 2002 at nationals, took sixth in 2003, fifth last season, and now third in his senior campaign.
