Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Severson To Represent Women Swimmers At Nationals Posted: Tuesday, March 8, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - Cori Severson (Jr. -Brainerd, MN) will represent the UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team this Thursday when she travels to Hope College (MI) to participate in the 50-yard freestyle event at the 2005 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. The preliminaries for the 50-yard freestyle will be part of the first block of trials on Thursday. The block is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. The finals will be held Thursday evening. Severson qualified for nationals with a time of 24.21 seconds, tied for the 14th best time in the nation. She posted the time in a second-place effort on February 17 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Whitewater. Marie Marsman of Carleton College (MN) has the best time in the nation this season at 22.78 seconds. The Eau Claire school record in the event is 23.97 seconds, set by Jessy Kent in February, 2000. Severson enjoyed a great season in the 50-yard freestyle event, winning the event on four different occasions. She also posted second place finishes in the event at the WIAC Championships and the St. Cloud State Invitational on November 6. Severson led the Blugolds to a dual meet record of 4-3 this season, including a 3-2 mark in WIAC dual meets. Eau Claire finished third out of six teams at the conference championships, posting a team score of 777.50. - DN - |
