Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Schuna Named WIAC Co-Scholar-Athlete Posted: Tuesday, March 8, 2005 MADISON - UW-Eau Claire men's track and field thrower John Schuna (Sr. -Hudson), along with UW-Platteville's Ryan Kleimenhagen, have been named 2005 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Max Sparger Men's Indoor Track and Field Co-Scholar-Athletes, it was announced recently by WIAC Commissioner Gary Karner. Schuna is majoring in exercise management and maintains a 3.80 grade point average. He has been recognized on UW-Eau Claire's Dean's List six semesters and is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. Schuna finished second at the conference meet in the shot put in 2004 and 2002. He has claimed All-America honors in the shot put the last two years, finishing fifth and sixth the last two seasons after winning the national title in 2002. Schuna is a three-time team MVP and holds the school record in the shot put. Schuna has been a member of the UW-Eau Claire Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Also nominated for this year's scholar-athlete award were: UW-La Crosse's Dan Haumschild and Andrew Buchberger, UW-Oshkosh's Steve Pratt and UW-Stevens Point's Matthew Legel. The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is sponsored by Culver's. In order to be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.25 grade point average, be in their last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years. |
