Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Track Finishes Sixth At WIAC Championships Posted: Saturday, March 5, 2005 PLATTEVILLE - The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team finished sixth at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships here today on the UW-Platteville campus. UW-La Crosse took first for the fourth consecutive year with 200 points. UW-Whitewater came in second with 131 points followed by UW-Oshkosh with 98, Platteville with 78, UW-Stevens Point with 75.5 and Eau Claire with 59. The Blugolds finished sixth for the second straight year. Nick Aliota (So.-Brookfield/Central) had a good performance taking third in the 200-meter run and fourth in the 55-meter hurdles. Aliota ran the 200-meter in 22.63 seconds and finished the hurdles in 7.92 seconds. Both times were season-bests. Eric Johnson (So.-Schofield/D.C. Everest) took fourth in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump. Johnson jumped a season-best 22-3 feet in the long jump and 44-4 feet in the triple jump. John Schuna (Sr.-Hudson) finished off an impressive indoor collegiate career with a fifth place finish in the shot put and a sixth place finish in the weight throw. Schuna tossed provisionally qualifying distances of 53-5 - feet in the shot put and 55-8 - feet in the weight throw. Adam Koger (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) had the highest individual Blugold finish with his effort in the 400-meter run. Koger ran the best time in the preliminaries and took second in the finals with a time of 49.70 seconds. Shaun Marek (Sr.-Waunakee) took fifth in the triple jump matching his season-best with a distance of 44-5 - feet. Adam Condit (Sr.-La Crosse/Central) took seventh in the 1-mile run with a season-best time of 4:18.52 while Justin Wolfe (Sr.-Brodhead) finished eighth in the pole vault with a height of 14-5 - feet. The Blugold relay teams had a strong day with both the 4x200- and 4x400-meter relay teams taking third with season-best times. The 4x200 team finished in 1:32.53 while the 4x400 team crossed the line in 3:23.31. Two conference records were established today. UW-La Crosse's Kevin Becker set the weight throw record with a toss of 67-7 feet while Platteville's Ryan Kleimenhagen set the record in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:10.24. Schuna was named the Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete along with Kleimenhagen following the competition. Kleimenhagen was named the Track Athlete of the Meet while Becker was named the Field Athlete of the Meet. La Crosse's Mark Guthrie was named the Coach of the Year. - JL - |
