Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Sikora Advances At Nationals Posted: Friday, March 4, 2005 NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Fourth-seeded Derek Sikora (Jr. -Neillsville) won all three of his matches to advance to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships held here today on the St. Olaf campus. Sikora opened the day winning a 2-1 decision over The College of New Jersey's Sean Flynn. He exacted some revenge in the second round defeating Wartburg's Andrew Knaack 10-3 after losing to Knaack 8-3 less than a month ago. Sikora advanced to the semifinals with a 10-5 win over Williams' John Dolan. Sikora moves on to wrestle top-seeded Garrett South of Luther College. South breezed through his first two matches with pins in both matches. Sikora is 0-1 lifetime against South. If Sikora advances he will wrestle the winner of the Ryan Valek-Nick Ammerman match. Sikora is 1-1 lifetime against the third-seeded Valek including a win at last year's nationals. Sikora is 0-2 against second-seeded Ammerman of UW-La Crosse with both losses coming this year. The action will kick off early tomorrow with competition starting at 11 a.m. Third, fifth and seventh place matches will start at 4 p.m. with finals matches starting at 7:30 p.m. - JL - |
