Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Drake, Archambault Earn All-WIAC Honors Posted: Wednesday, March 2, 2005 MADISON - UW-Eau Claire men's basketball player Casey Drake (Sr. -Rhinelander) has been named to the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team while Dan Archambault (Sr. -Oshkosh/West) earned honorable mention, it was announced recently by WIAC Commissioner Gary Karner. The pair led Eau Claire to a 13-13 overall record this season and the six seed in the WIAC Tournament, where the Blugold dropped a heart-breaking overtime contest to UW-Oshkosh. Eau Claire reeled off six straight wins from December 7 to January 4, a streak that included the sixth straight Eau Claire Holiday Classic Championship for the Blugolds. Drake earns All-WIAC first team honors for the second consecutive season. He finished the season ranked third in the league in scoring (18.0), seventh in assists (3.08), ninth in field goal percentage (.451), 10th in free throw percentage (.773) and three-point field goal percentage (.380), 11th in steals (1.23) and assist/turnover ratio (1.27) and 15th in three-point field goals made (1.35). Drake finished his career 20th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,177 points. He tallied double-digit points in every game but on this season, an eight-point effort in a loss to UW-River Falls on January 18. He scored 20 or more points 10 times this season. Archambault earns All-WIAC honorable mention for the second straight season. He finished the season third in free-throw percentage (.860), sixth in the conference in scoring (15.1), 10th in assist/turnover ratio (1.27), 11th in three-point field goals made (1.84), 12th in three-point field goal percentage (.368), 12th in assists (2.44), and 15th in field goal percentage (.407). Archambault had a team-high for points in a game this season when he scored 28 points in a 94-93 loss to Finlandia (MI) on November 26. He reached double-digit scoring 21 times this season. - DN - |
