Johnson Leads Blugolds At Pointer Qualifier

STEVENS POINT - Eric Johnson (So. -Schofield/D.C. Everest) took first in the long jump and third in the triple jump at the Pointer Qualifier held here today in the Health Enhancement Center.
Johnson won the long jump with a distance of 21-7 - feet and took third in the triple jump with an effort of 44-9 - feet.
Adam Koger (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.70 seconds. Koger's time earned him a provisional qualification. Nick Aliota (So.-Brookfield/Central) finished second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.02 seconds.
John Schuna (Sr.-Hudson) had a strong day in the field taking third in the shot put and fifth in the weight throw. Schuna's shot put toss of 53-2 - feet and weight throw of 54-9 - feet earned him provisional qualifications.
Stephanie Barnes (So.-Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) took second in the women's pole vault clearing 11-3 - feet which earned her a provisional qualification.
Both the men and women will be in action next when they compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday. The championships are set to begin Friday at 11:30 a.m.
