Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Welcher, Heatwole Win Awards At WIAC Championships Posted: Monday, February 21, 2005 WHITEWATER - UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving coach Rob Welcher has earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Co-Coach of the Year honors while diver Scott Heatwole (Jr. -Port Washington) earned the Diver of the Meet Award at the WIAC Championships held last Thursday through Saturday in Whitewater. Welcher, who is also the coach of the men's swimming and diving team, led the Blugold women to an overall record of 20-9 and a dual meet record of 4-3. The Blugolds finished 3-2 in WIAC dual meets and earned third place out of six teams at the WIAC Championships. Heatwole was a shoe-in for the Diver of the Meet Award as he won both the one and three-meter diving events. He won the one-meter event with a score of 445.80 and the three-meter event with a score of 472.95. Both of the marks are high enough for qualification into national competition. Hope College (MI) will be hosting the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Nationals this season, beginning Thursday, March 17 and concluding Saturday, March 19. - DN - |
