Tue, Jun 18, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Track Wins Border Battle Posted: Sunday, February 13, 2005 NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track and field team took first place out of four teams at yesterday's Border Battle hosted by St. Olaf. St. Thomas (MN) finished in second place at the meet while UW-Stout took third and St. Olaf finished in last place. John Schuna (Sr.-Hudson) had another great performance as he won both the shot put and weight throw competitions. He posted a throw of 16.73 meters (54-10.75) in the shot put and a throw of 16.94 meters (55-7) in the weight throw. Eric Johnson (So.-Schofield/D.C. Everest) earned a victory in the long jump while posting second place in the triple jump event. He won the long jump with a distance of 6.46 meters (21-2.5) and earned second in the triple jump with a jump of 13.53 meters (44-4.75). Adam Condit (Sr.-La Crosse/Central) brought home a first place finish in the 3,000-meter run, finishing the distance in a time of 8:43.35. Teammate Micah Hernandez (Jr.-Milwaukee/Wisconsin Lutheran) finished second in the event with a time of 9:01.90. The final individual victory for the Blugolds at the Border Battle came from Nick Aliota (So.-Brookfield/Central), who won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.06 seconds. Eau Claire's 800-meter relay team also earned victory on the day, winning the event in a time of 1:32.60. The Blugolds will be back in action this Friday when they head to Menomonie for the UW-Stout Invite. The action is set to begin at noon. - DN - |
